Social Media At Its Best

For me the most remarkable thing about the whole Crushing It experience is how much has been generated from a single blog post

On January 5th, 2010, I posted an idea on blog about a story to be told live during social media week and calling for collaborators.  I am amazed at how many people have responded.  I know some of them, but some are new to me.  Their generousity, talent and commitment to this project is incredible.

From my thin idea, a robust story has been built with about a dozen characters who are forming before my very ideas.  Video is being shot, photos taken, blog posts written.  The amount of work and the creativity is breathtaking.

But writing alone won't take this project home.  The producer, designer, site builder, actors... all volunteers.

I love the social web because it brings people together and has such a great positive spirit.  People reach out to strangers with offers of help.  There's no back-end on this project.  No great glory to be gained.  But people jumped in nonetheless.  I love all of them for it.

I can't wait till Monday to see how this all goes down!
